In a speech titled “Little Murders,” Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput of the Archdiocese of Denver delivered a scathing critique of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, his Catholic running mate Joe Biden and liberal Catholic groups at a dinner Friday.

Raising the false specter of an Obama administration promoting abortion on demand, Chaput said, “To suggest — as some Catholics do — that Senator Obama is this year’s ‘real’ pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse.”

AP’s religion reporter Eric Gorski described Chaput as “one of the most politically outspoken Catholic prelates in the nation.” The Denver religious leader did not disappoint on that score during Friday’s remarks at the Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women dinner.

Chaput, without getting into much detail, called Obama the “most committed” abortion-rights major-party presidential candidate since the landmark Roe v. Wade decision on abortion in 1973.

“To suggest — as some Catholics do — that Senator Obama is this year’s ‘real’ pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse,” Chaput said, according to his prepared remarks, titled “Little Murders.”

The archbishop continued with a controversial call to deny communion to Joe Biden, a practicing Catholic, because of his support for reproductive freedom, abortion and contraception. That hard-line perspective has created a schism among lay Catholics who tend to view the church’s “pro-life” teachings much more broadly to include opposition to war and the death penalty and support for the “Catholic worker movement” tenets of eradicating poverty, promoting social justice and personal worship.

Chaput also took the opportunity to criticize liberal Catholic groups as well as Catholic legal scholar Douglas Kmiec, legal counsel to the Reagan administration, who recently endorsed Obama.

According to AP’s report on the dinner speech:

Kmiec wrote a book making a Catholic case for Obama. He argues the Obama campaign is premised on Catholic social teaching like care for working families and the poor and foreign policy premised on peace over war. Democratic efforts to tackle social and economic factors that contribute to abortion hold more promise, Kmiec said, than Republican efforts to criminalize it.

While applauding Kmiec’s past record, Chaput said: “I think his activism for Senator Barack Obama, and the work of Democratic-friendly groups like Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, have done a disservice to the church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn.”

Pro-Obama Catholics “seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues,” said Chaput, who wrote a book this year, “Render Unto Caesar,” about Catholics and politics.

Catholics United fired back with a strongly worded statement arguing that Chaput’s comments, even made as a private citizen, would have a chilling effect on the much-needed dialogue among Catholics on how to address the abortion controversy aside from an outright repeal of Roe v. Wade, which is both politically unlikely and unsupported by the American public:

“During the past eight years we have watched a president rise to power on a ‘pro-life’ platform only to pursue other priorities: perpetrating an unjust war, opposing expanded health care coverage for pregnant women and children, promoting the intrinsic evil of torture, deregulating the financial markets, and mortgaging the future of America’s hard-working families on tax cuts for the rich and powerful. Scant, if any, progress was made toward ending or reducing abortions — quite the contrary, we fear that the looming economic crisis will impel more women to have abortions as people lose their jobs and their homes. This experience serves as poignant reminder of the need for Catholics and other pro-life Americans to look beyond campaign rhetoric and elect candidates who will deliver real results on the issues that matter most.”

Unlike some of his evangelical counterparts promoting Pulpit Freedom Day, Chaput was sure to point out that his remarks were offered as a private citizen and not as a representative of the diocese at the dinner for Catholic women. The Internal Revenue Service has been cracking down on clergy for breaching the law that prohibits tax-exempt religious groups from making statements supporting or opposing political candidates.

The Obama campaign’s Stalinist-style demand that a special prosecutor at the Department of Justice criminally prosecute any candidates, party officials or congressmen who discussed their concerns over voter fraud is an outrageous attempt to use the power of the federal government to intimidate and persecute political opponents. It is almost as if Senator Obama wants to reinstitute the Alien and Sedition Acts and it brings into sharp focus the issue of whether he understands the protections of the First Amendment and the importance of fair and secure elections.

I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned.

I know there are millions of Americans who believe as I do. All are concerned about the negative impact an Obama presidency and a Democrat controlled Congress will have on the Courts and the fight to overturn Roe v. Wade if they should win this Election Day.  We cannot let that happen.

As we all might have expected, Colin Powell endorses Obama on Meet The Press.  His reasoning is befuddling.  Powell expressed that he was remorseful for disappointing McCain, but was fearful that the Republican party is moving too far to the right.  He also expressed that he was afraid of two more conservative Judicial appointments to the Supreme Court.

When Powell spoke of Obama he could only say that Obama speaks well; he speaks confidently.  Powell used the work “speaks” repeatedly, which vividly depicts that Obama is all talk.  Powell was confident that Obama is The One who could repair the reputation of the United States.  Are you kidding?  Has our world reputation filtered out common sense?!

Powell failed to mention anything about the anti-American, liberation theologians who helped Obama morph into what he has become.

He also diminished the relationship with Bill Ayers and dismissed Obama’s once Muslim status as a rumor which didn’t matter even if it were true.

I, for one, am absolutely disgusted by this once great warrior subscribing to this “Spread the wealth around” proposal by the Obama cronies.  This spreading of the wealth will not only extend to the middle class but to the rest of the world.  This will wipe out our economy, our power and strength, and our national security.

Bernie Sanders brags about being a socialist and if you compare Obama’s views with Sander’s, well, they’re almost identical.

We’ll see a lot of attention from this endorsement over the next few days but just understand…look at the substance behind it and you’ll see it really won’t make any difference.  He’s just another bobblehead.

Poor Joe.  This guy has been under a microscope from just about every MSM hypocrite that consistantly insults our intelligence.  They are all deliberately missing the point.  It’s more “smoke and mirrors” politics we’ve come to expect from “That one,” “Senator Government.”  From a political perspective, the issue isn’t JOE, or how much JOE really makes, or JOE really isn’t a plumber.  It’s what Barack Obama said, “Share the wealth.”

Obama undeniably and un-apologetically stated that he is perfectly content with taking Joe’s hard earned money and penalize him for being a hard worker; an over achiever.  “Share the wealth.”

So, and bare with me; we’re teaching kids, in a sense, that if you earn an “A” in math, you actually have earned a “C” because you have to share the weight of that “A” with a student that got an “F.”  Therefore, everyone always passes, you all get to college for free, and when you graduate from college, you’re all going to be standing around-staring at each other-waiting for those Obama Bucks to come in the mail, because nobody has learned how to work at or for anything.

It’s like what some are teaching Little Leaguers;  everyone wins with a tie score.  No more All Star games, either.  We’re all All Stars.

People, we have to help this McCain/Palin campaign any and every way we possibly can.  As urgent as The Great Commission, should we approach this task.  We are going to have to drag McCains tired butt across the finish line of this election race.

On a positive note about BO’s plan; taxes in themselves will now become tax deductable because we will be contributing to the largest charity known to man, the once great United States of America.

But France will like us now.

A book review by a Cuban exile from The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate

After reading the book I realized it is the kind of writing that people either ferociously agree with its message or hate the author for undermining someone whose qualifications make him worthy of being elected president of the most powerful nation on Earth.  I am not going to agree with either side.  All I wish to express as a former Cuban exile, is that Barack Obama and Fidel Castro share many personality traits, ie:

·         Both were abandoned by their fathers at an early age.

·         Both are charming, eloquent lawyers that say exactly what people want to hear at the right time and place.

·         One never led the nation to suspect he was a communist at heart, the other doesn’t mention the word socialism when in reality this is exactly what his agenda stands for.

·         Neither Obama nor Fidel ever held a real job either in government or in private enterprise for they think of themselves as demigods unworthy of soiling their hands when their destiny is much larger than their own realities.

·         Both were virtually unknown until they began to use the word “change” as their main political motto.

·         Both have egos as tall as the twin towers, yet they manage to present themselves humbly, one in soiled military fatigues and the other sweating and with an undone tie.

·         Both have the unique ability to distort truth and lies as if they were the same.

·         Both have the ability to hypnotize the ignorant and fool the wishful thinker and to divide a nation in classes, (divide and you shall win) In Fidel’s case he divided the rich against the poor, the illiterate against the educated and the black against the white.

·         In Obama’s case even if by omission, he’s de-facto dividing the races already.

·         Another resemblance between Obama and Fidel and one that shall never be forgotten is that the American media supported the “Twentieth Century Latin American Liberator” (Time Magazine) with the same degree of irresponsibility devoted to Barack Obama today.

·         And lastly I’ll use the words of Jorge Santayana to finish my case in point: “Those who can’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

·         And in the words of Sir Winston Churchill: “The inherent vice of Capitalism is the unequal distribution of blessings, the inherent vice of Socialism is the equal distribution of misery.
