After the crushing defeat, Republicans face a tough road back. How do we get there? I’ll be addressing this in the next few columns.

The first thing is to learn from the lessons of the past sixteen years. Under George W. Bush, the left has been unglued ever since Bush won Florida with the Supreme Court foreclosing the option of a “keep recounting until the Democrats win” approach that would later be used in Washington state in 2004.

For eight years, what columnist Michelle Malkin calls Bush Derangement Syndrome has reigned in disturbing detail. Books written about assassinating the President, and a movie made about the same event. Bush has been compared to Hitler. People have had stress, anger, and some of the most educated, intelligent people you can find have written some of the most insane drivel you can imagine.

Liberals have pushed the most inane scandal in American history, the Valerie Plame scandal. They’ve celebrated convictions of political leaders. How bad did it get for the liberals? Two words. Keith Olbermann.

The eight years previous to that, Republicans helped keep Arkansas humming with an anti-Clinton book and a media industry that charged the President with every crime from serial Cocaine use to murder in the first degree. There was the unseemly digging into Clinton’s numerous affairs in Arkansas.

Now, Clinton’s impeachment for perjury and obstruction of justice (let the record show that Clinton was not impeached for sex) was justified and the people who led that effort made a heroic stance. The process of searching for political scandal, hoping for it, and agitating for impeachment and removal long before 1998, however, was unseemly and a distraction. On the bright side, Republicans were not dreaming of Clinton being shot, but rather him being impeached. Bob Tyrell wrote a book that ended with Clinton’s surprising conviction on Whitewater-related charges. Incriminating White House tapes discovered the day before the Senate vote served as Tyrell’s Deus ex machina.

Neither the Bush Derangement Syndrome, nor enthusiastic Clinton-hating helped our country. Nor can it be argued to have helped the parties where those approaches were dominant. Democrats lost the 2002 and 2004 election on Bush derangement. They won in 2006 with Bush’s weak response to Hurricane Katrina (yes, Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin were far more culpable, but still as President, Bush bore some responsibility) and the Iraq War was mismanaged. Democrats recruited good candidates and ran a campaign on cleaning up Washington (sure, they were lying, but what do you expect?)

Republicans didn’t distribute 40 million copies of the Clinton Chronicles to win the House in 1994. They talked about what the Clinton Administration was doing wrong and provided an alternative to that vision. And in 1998, when House leadership thought Republicans would enjoy a large turnout among the GOP base over the prosecution of Clinton despite the fact that they were spending like drunker sailors, Republicans actually lost seats in Clinton’s 6-year mid-term, something that’s historically unprecedented.

When unethical conduct by politicians that is proven or substantially backed up comes to light, it needs to be examined, and prosecuted appropriately. But a politics that centers on going after your opponents is ideologically bankrupt and fails. Ethical lapses should be dealt with a sense of sorrow, not a sense of glee.

Therefore the path I intend to take, and the path I would urge conservatives to take, is one that, to paraphrase Lincoln, shows “unhingedness towards none.”

  • 1. Unless someone has serious proof of a violent Obama felony—such as murder, rape, or armed robbery—that could pass a grand jury, or a past association that casts damaging light on a current policy, Obama’s history beyond his promises in the past campaign is really quite irrelevant. We had a chance to thoroughly discuss Obama’s past during the long campaign. The time to discuss the past is past. The American people have chosen Obama despite his past and nothing from ten or fifteen years ago is going to change voter perceptions.
  • 2. By all appearances, Obama has been a faithful husband. I believe that to be the case, and have no intent of rolling in the gutter, hoping for a loose woman with loose lips. I’ll not deal in sexual rumor or innuendo.
  • 3. When referring to Obama after inauguration, I’ll call him President Obama. If I’m feeling somewhat sarcastic, I may call him “The One.” I will not call him any of the names that were used for President or the equivalents of things such as “The Smirking Chimp.” Of course, I’d be accused of racism if I did.
  • 4. I have no interest in the impeachment, death, or imprisonment of Barack Obama. I believe, were any of these to occur, it would be a tragedy. I wish him the best health (and I further extend that same wish and prayer to every member of the U.S. Supreme Court.) and that he finishes his one term in office.
  • 5. I have no ill-will towards those who voted for Senator Obama,. I don’t begrudge those who opposed Senator Obama being respectful and congratulatory. We never won anyone to our side by being jerks.

I reject the path of unhingedness because it’s not the path to the victory. Our society faces serious risks from a dangerous world, from morally corrosive legislation like the Freedom of Choice Act, from economic proposals that will turn our nation into a third world country such as card check, and the dismantling of our retirement system. No one can focus on everything, and we are dealing with critical issues that are far more important than the scandal-based focus of the past 16 years.

Why McCain Lost

John McCain ran an honorable campaign, but still came up short. Any Republican would have trouble in this environment, with the state of the economy, the President’s approval rating, the inter-party battle for the nomination, and the lack of major domestic achievements in President Bush’s second term all were millstones around McCain’s neck.

 

Were this 2000 or 2004, Senator McCain arguably could have won, but in 2008, what was required of McCain was absolute perfection. He missed the mark, and there are some lessons for Republicans to take away from his loss:

 

Not every election is about national security: The GOP nominated John McCain because they thought he was going to be strong on prosecuting the War on Terror. The problem? That wasn’t the issue this election revolved around. This was a domestic issues election and during the primary, Senator McCain delivered a classic line indicating that he didn’t know that much about economics. There was no indication this would be a foreign policy election in the Republican Primaries, yet Republicans made it a prime determinant. This was particularly odd as only Ron Paul, among McCain’s primary opponents, was uncommitted to the war on terror.

 

Military Service Optional: Neither President Clinton nor President-elect Obama served in the military. President Bush only served in the National Guard. Looking at the three most talked about names for 2012: Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee, you see not a day of personal military service. With an all-volunteer Army, the “Did you serve?” question as an accusatory statement is dead and buried.

 

The Idea Deficit: While McCain talked a lot about the federal deficit, what his campaign suffered from was an idea deficit. McCain, as a candidate, believed that what he offered to the nation was himself: A leader who would bring people together to solve problems. Similar to Bob Dole in 1996, first came the candidate and then came the ideas. McCain’s spending freeze proposal was added in the middle of the financial crisis, his “drill here, drill now” mantra was a departure from his Senate career that occurred because of high gas prices. McCain, throughout the campaign, remained a legislator whose craft was fine tuning legislation to help it get through the Senate. A key example of this was his return to Washington. Rather than offering a radically different alternative to the Bush Administration’s $700 billion bail out, McCain proposed amendments.

 

This was an election where people saw big problems looming, and they wanted big solutions. McCain instead offered a timid platform. McCain was running like it was 2000. In 2000, nobody really wanted big ideas. They just wanted a President that wouldn’t embarrass them.

 

The Reality of the Vertical Voter: Conventional wisdom has been, “Politics is not won at the right or the left, but at the center. Therefore, you nominate centrist candidates to appeal to the political center.”  This election blows that theory to kingdom come.

 

While I know some people who might fit the profile of a centrist ideologue, this election illustrates that people just don’t grope for the candidate closest to the center. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has stated that most voters are not voting to move the country right or left, but up or down. Liberal Blogger Big Tent Democrat of Talkleft.com has said, “Politics is not a battle for the middle. It is a battle for defining the terms of the political debate. It is a battle to be able to say what is the middle.”

 

Though, it was said by a Democrat, I would like it tattooed on the face of every pundit who goes about telling us about how the GOP needs to nominate centrists. No, the GOP needs to nominate Conservatives, and define the debate by convincing the American people that our policies will move the country upward.

Cultural Conservatism is Not a Losing Issue: The marriage Amendment in Florida ran 14 points ahead of John McCain and the Marriage Amendment in California ran 15 points ahead. There’s an opportunity for Republicans who will choose leaders who seriously believe in social conservative ideas rather than merely using social conservative ideas as election stunts and wedge issues.

 

Public Financing=Political Suicide: If Republicans are smart, taxpayers will save more than $40 million under Barack Obama, as no candidate in their right mind will ever take public financing again. The system, as it exists currently, is little more than a provider of welfare checks for mediocre politicians. The huge Republican fundraising disadvantage, while not the only cause of Obama’s victory, was a huge contributing factor.

 

Campaign Finance Reform=Political Crock: Our Campaign Finance laws are nonsense. Whatever arguments you can make about it being politically corrupt to let someone just walk up to a politician and write a $1 million check, it could not be worse than our current system, provided that there is full disclosure.   

 

Time to Modernize the GOP: The Republican Party needs to become more savvy in its use of the Internet as an organizing and fundraising tool. Also, in a country where early voting is becoming increasingly popular, its time to give the old 72 Hour Get Out the Vote campaign a makeover. These are new times and despite GOP gains, the Democrats are still way out front in terms of running a 21st century campaign.

We have one president at a time

The American people have chosen a new Chief Magistrate.

Congratulations to President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama.

All Americans of faith should pray for him and his family despite any political differences. He defeated a true American hero and worthy opponent in John McCain. My candidate lost, but We the People have spoken and it is the duty of us all to respect our Republic’s collective choice.

Those of us that love America must understand that we have only one Executive leader at a time and, especially only one Commander-in-Chief at a time. He will be the face of America to the world, friends and foes alike. His foreign policy will be America’s foreign policy. If his doesn’t succeed, none will, and especially in this area, I urge (just as I did from Reagan-Bush 43), that we try and present a unified front to the world, so long as the United States remains the beacon of Liberty.

He deserves the benefit of the doubt during the transition and after Inauguration Day. There were many good reasons to oppose his election based on his past record, but his Presidency must be judged on what he does from this day forward.

Despite my great disappointment in what I see as a mistaken choice on the part of the majority of Americans last night, I must admit one point of great pride in my country.

As I discussed before the election, one of the driving forces of my life has been the civil rights struggle, especially in my beloved South. In the early 70s I endured taunts from racists due to my family’s integration efforts and my close black friends. My dream was always that of Martin Luther King’s, (even if it hasn’t always been Obama’s) which was that people of all races could achieve the American Dream through character and hard work. I watched America and the South slowly but surely achieve that dream many years ago despite the refusal of many to surrender the race victim label under a false definition of civil rights.

So, it is with great pride for me that my chosen Party of Lincoln elevated Clarence Thomas, and Condoleezza Rice. And though I left the Democrat Party after 18 years of activism in 2000, I was overjoyed when my former Democrat friends in the Palmetto State proved their color-blindness and gave Obama victory in their primary earlier this year.

The scene and picture (see above) last night prove what I have known for at least 20 years. America has lived up to its creed. In America, it is self-evident:

All men are created equal, and his policies on civil rights and executions of the law in the years ahead will be equally examined with those of his predecessors as Chief Magistrate, here at the Examiner.

All Presidents are also created equal.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

The leader of the civil rights movement in this country had no problem with our founding documents. In fact, Dr. King based his movement on the Liberty promised in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States.

Too bad Barack Obama, the most visible beneficiary of an America living out the true meaning of our creed, rejects it as “fatally flawed”:

“I think we can say that the Constitution reflected a (sic) enormous blind spot in this culture that carries on until this day and that the framers had that same blind spot…[and] [the U.S. Constitution] reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day.”

Was MLK blind too? Or did those that suffered under Jim Crow understand that the greatest positive civil right was Liberty from government doing things “on our behalf”.

The Democrat nominee for President has a different view:
“…the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you. But it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.

Negative liberties?

Let’s read the Preamble to the world’s oldest governing document:“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Securing the blessings of Liberty is negative to one that wants more government power, but it is precisely the restraint on that power that is the secret to the historic success of the citizens of the United States, especially including millionaire author, Barack Obama.

Yet, he trashes The Movement that secured Blessings of Liberty for him:

“And that hasn’t shifted, and one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court-focused…”

Lawyer Thurgood Marshall was too “court-focused” when he filed the complaint for Brown against the Board of Education?

I think not.

Obama rejects the creed King embraced, re-produced here in it’s entirety:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Obama has the blind spot. What he doesn’t see, and what makes our nation unique, is that We the People own all the civil rights as gifts from God. We the People’s Founding Fathers form governments and give them limited powers. Obama wants a new creed in which government, even through the courts, has first dibs on the fruits of our labor:

“I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order and — and as long as I could pay for it I’d be okay. But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society… As radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution…”

He wants to be a founding father of a new creed that breaks the government free from constraints in limiting liberty, but what about Life and the Pursuit of Happiness?

As an Illinois State Senator, he was instrumental in twice preventing the passage of a law that would have required that life-saving medical care be afforded to babies that are born alive following botched abortions; opposed outlawing the barbaric third-trimester procedure of partial birth abortion; considered the question of when human beings obtain human rights as above his pay grade and characterized the birth of an unexpected child as “punishment.”

Contrast that with the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee’s advocacy for special needs children, such as her infant son with Down Syndrome.
Obama pursues happiness by seeking to empower government.

The Founder’s considered the right to retain private property as the key to Liberty and happiness pursuits. The Democrat nominee and his party want dibs on your income via higher taxes, and speaking of happiness pursuits, just yesterday, Barack promised to bankrupt the coal industry.

How happy can you be lacking the civil rights to life and less income in a cold house?

Admit it now, what good were all the pre-election polls, poll obsessing and/or personal predictions for the past 23 months?

None, unless your goal was to suppress GOP turnout, elect Farrakhan’s Messiah or keep alive a nerdy desire to give one’s life five seconds of meaning by being “right” in a guess based on other people’s guesses, after which you can base the next 25 months of your life on the polls on the races for 2010 and 2012 that begin after MLK Day 2009.

Was anyone elected based on talk to pollsters? Or did I miss the inauguration?

Even the liberal media is now in the “turnout” phase, seemingly shocked every 2-4 years that people must actually move more than their lips in order to actually cast a ballot to elect a mere dog catcher, much less the Leader of the Free World.

And speaking of the free world, you could make worse closing arguments than to remind legal by lazy registered Hillarycrats and disgruntled republicans of words of the Joe “No Interview for you” Biden (think and watch Seinfeld Soup Nazi) who whispered to fellow leftists that the election of his fellow cloistered from the press for weeks running mate would “generate” a test from evildoers abroad in order to test him.

The test? Make sure Obama is as weak as his own party-toasts for terrorist apologists on stag films at the LATimes; moral equivalence between Russia and Georgia, not to mention Israel and Hamas/Hezbos and meet with out preconditions, Iran’s Mullahs and their unshaven MembersOnlyJacket-ijad-clad front man; and like the rest of his party since 1972 (save for Zell, Joe L. and sometimes Bill).

Skanderbeg report’s that even Pravda equivalents pray for McCain’s election.

Don’t waste your time trying to change what passes for minds of followers of The One. No. There are only two categories you can, and should try, to persuade:

a) Obama haters of the Hillary supporter variety, and

b) Disgruntled with mavericks republicans who seek the cowardly shelter of the mocker and the temptation of pride that throw up their hands and declare no difference between the choices and themselves above it all (to hide their laziness as they face long lines).

One disadvantage republicans always face is the default donkey default position of so many raised in a nation dominated during so much of its history by the World’s Oldest Party.

Remind of the late 70s and of Reagan’s remedy.

You might want to remind, as Ryan Mauro of World Threats recently did, of Palin-McCain attentiveness to arresting the 30-year Democrat Party and Obama affirmed energy self suicide and who would be more likely to launch a Huckabee-Manhattan-like, “Lexington Project.”

Remind them of 911, what the economy was like after 911. Ask them what another 911 during the present crisis would do to 401Ks and then spring Biden’s words and three more facts on them:

We have had no more 911s since 911, no thanks to Obama and the Democrats, with much thanks to Bush and McCain.

Elections are always ALL ABOUT TURNOUT.

As if?

But you wouldn’t know it from the time consumed by so many of the pajama clad and couch potatoes.

So, quit reading guesses by non-nostradami and start calling that good looking second cousin that you know that loves to keep her paycheck and see terrorists blown to smithereens.

And penultimately, as the rooster awaits the dawn of The Day, my recent pep talk to Redstate’s beloved Fearless Leader,, now in D.C., E.E., in response to his Battle with the Washington Beltway Post sirens:

Erick, if the Washington Post asked you to publish a prediction on your son’s sport’s team would you publish it if you predicted a loss knowing he would see it? Of course not. And you have a TEAM in this fight, some of whose members facing long lines and losing income tomorrow while in line, could use as an excuse to not vote. Moreover, does your self worth depend on overtures from WashPo? I hope not.You are more than a married 30something, but not because people think you writing matters and can influence. You are more (not that being married is chump change) because you stand for truth: Conservative, Judeo-Christian values patriotic truth and one final truth,

You don’t SEE anything re the outcome. No one can. People can read polls and watch tv and have anecdotes, but any fool can get elections right half the time flipping a coin.

What we know is that TURNOUT is ALL that matters. Focus on getting your team to turn out.

Dear Mr. Obama

This was delivered to me to pass on to all of you…concerned Patriots.

I know that many of you are sick and tired of all this political BS but if you read just one more thing between now and next month’s election, I urge you to read the following editorial. I don’t know who “Michael Masters” is or what he does, but he does write cogently and well. A Google search turns up a Michael Masters who is a lawyer in Philadelphia, but I don’t believe that he is the author of this open letter. There is a “Michael C. Masters” who lives in McLean, VA – I presume, but do not know, for sure, that he is the author. However, he didn’t show up in any Google searches that I conducted, so I guess he isn’t “notorious” enough to be found. I look at that as a good thing, however. On the surface, that suggests he is just another citizen like the rest of us and has no particular ax to grind. However, he HAS done his homework before writing this editorial.

To Barack Hussein Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008, that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted.   While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008, that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted.   In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year.   The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly.  While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Your speech in Philadelphia on March 18, 2008, about “race” contradicted your statement to Anderson Cooper on March 14 when you said that you never heard Reverend Wright make his negative statements about white America.   While your attendance at Trinity Church for 20 years is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on March 14.

In your 1st debate with John McCain, you said that you never said that you would meet with the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea without “preparations” at lower levels … Joe Biden repeated your words in his debate with Sarah Palin … while the video tape from your debate last February clearly shows that you answered “I would” to the question of meeting with those leaders within 12 months without “any” preconditions.  While your judgement about meeting with enemies of the USA without pre-conditions is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America in the debate with McCain.

On July 14, 2008, you said that you always knew that the surge would work while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you stated that the surge would not work.   While your judgement about military strategy as a potential commander-in-chief is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on July 14.

You now claim that your reason for voting against funding for the troops was because the bill did not include a time line for withdrawal, while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you voted against additional funding because you wanted our troops to be removed immediately … not in 16 months after the 2008 election as you now claim.  While your judgement about removing our troops unilaterally in 2007 is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about your previous position.

You claim to have a record of working with Republicans while the record shows that the only bill that you sponsored with a Republican was with Chuck Lugar … and it failed.  The record shows that you vote 97% in concert with the Democrat party and that you have the most liberal voting record in the Senate.  You joined Republicans only 13% of the time in your votes and those 13% were only after agreement from the Democrat party.  While it is of concern that you fail to include conservatives in your actions and that you are such a liberal, the greater concern is that you distorted the truth.

In the primary debates of last February, 2008, you claimed to have talked with a “Captain” of a platoon in Afghanistan “the other day” when in fact you had a discussion in 2003 with a Lieutenant who had just been deployed to Afghanistan.  You lied in that debate.

In your debates last spring, you claimed to have been a “professor of Constitutional law” when in fact you have never been a professor of Constitutional law.  In this last debate, you were careful to say that you “taught a law class” and never mentioned being a “professor of Constitutional law.”  You lied last spring.

You and Joe Biden both claimed that John McCain voted against additional funding for our troops when the actual records show the opposite. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted against funding for alternate energy sources 20 times when the record shows that John McCain specifically voted against funding for bio fuels, especially corn … and he was right ….  corn is too expensive at producing ethanol,  and using corn to make ethanol increased the price of corn from $2 a bushel to $6 a bushel for food.   You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted like both of you for a tax increase on those making as little as $42,000 per year while the voting record clearly shows that John McCain did not vote as you and Joe Biden.   You lied to America.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted with George W. Bush 90% of the time when you know that Democrats also vote 90% of the time with the President (including Joe Biden) because the vast majority of the votes are procedural.  You are one of the few who has not voted 90% of the time with the president because you have been missing from the Senate since the day you got elected.   While your absence from your job in the Senate is of concern, the greater concern is that you spin the facts.

You did not take an active role in the rescue plan.  You claimed that the Senate did not need you while the real reason that you abstained was because of your close relationships with the executives of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Countrywide, and Acorn … who all helped cause the financial problems of today … and they all made major contributions to your campaign.   While your relationship with these executives and your protection of them for your brief 3 years in the Senate (along with Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd) is of concern, the greater concern is that you are being deceitful.

You forgot to mention that you personally represented Tony Rezko and Acorn.  Tony Rezko, an Arab and close friend to you, was convicted of fraud in Chicago real estate transactions that bilked millions of tax dollars from the Illinois government for renovation projects that you sponsored as a state senator … and Acorn has been convicted of voter fraud, real estate sub prime loan intimidation, and illegal campaign contributions.  Tony Rezko has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to your political campaigns.  You personally used your political positions to steer money to both Tony Rezko and Acorn and you used Acorn to register thousands of phony voters for Democrats and you.  While your relationships with Rezko and Acorn are of concern, the greater concern is that you omitted important facts about your relationships with them to America.

During your campaign, you said: “typical white person.”  “They cling to their guns and religion.”  “They will say that I am black.”  You played the race card.  You tried to label any criticism about you as racist.  You divide America.

You claim that you will reduce taxes for 95% of America, but you forgot to tell America that those reductions are after you remove the Bush tax reductions.   You have requested close to $1 billion in earmarks and several million for Acorn.   Your social programs will cost America $1 trillion per year and you claim that a reduction in military spending ($100 billion for Iraq) can pay for it.   While your economic plan of adding 30% to the size of our federal government is of concern, the greater concern is that you are deceiving America.

The drain to America’s economy by foreign supplied oil is $700 billion per year (5% of GDP) while the war in Iraq is $100 billion (less than 1% of GDP).  You voted against any increases to oil exploration for the last 3 years and any expansion of nuclear facilities.  Yet today, you say that you have always been for more oil and more nuclear.  You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you claimed that you “changed” your mind about public financing for your campaign because of the money spent by Republican PACs in 2004.   The truth is that the Democrat PACs in 2004, 2006, and 2008  spent twice as much as the Republican PACs (especially George Soros and MoveOn.org).   You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you have done nothing to stop the actions of the teachers union and college professors in the USA.  They eliminated religion from our history.  They teach pro gay agendas and discuss sex with students as young as first grade.  They bring their personal politics into the classrooms.  They disparage conservatives.  They brainwash our children.  They are in it for themselves ….. not America    Are you reluctant to condemn their actions because teachers/professors and the NEA contribute 25% of all money donated to Democrats and none to Republicans?  You are deceiving America.

Oh, Mr. Obama, Teddy Roosevelt said about a hundred years ago that we Americans should first look at the character of our leaders before anything else.

Your character looks horrible.  While you make good speeches, motivating speeches, your character does not match your rhetoric.  You talk the talk, but do not walk the walk.

1.  You lied to America.  You lied many times.  You distorted facts.  You parsed your answers like a lawyer.

2. You distorted the record of John McCain in your words and in your advertisements.

3.  You had associations with some very bad people for your personal political gains and then lied about those associations.

4.  You divide America about race and about class.

Now let me compare your record of lies, distortions, race baiting, and associations to John McCain:   War hero.  Annapolis graduate with “Country first.”   Operational leadership experience like all 43 previously elected presidents of the USA as a Navy officer for 22 years.  26 years in the Senate.  Straight talk.  Maverick.  54% of the time participated on bills with Democrats.  Never asked for an earmark.  The only blemish on his record is his part in the Keating 5 debacle about 25 years ago.

Mr. Obama, at Harvard Law School, you learned that the end does not justify the means.  You learned that perjury, false witness, dishonesty, distortion of truth are never tolerated.  Yet, your dishonesty is overwhelming.  Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty that caused the impeachment and disbarment of Bill Clinton.  Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty of Scooter Libby. You should be ashamed.

Mr. Obama, it is time for us Americans to put aside our differences on political issues and vote against you because of your dishonest character.   It is time for all of us Americans to put aside our political issues and vote for America first. It is time for America to vote for honesty.

Any people who vote for you after understanding that you are dishonest should be ashamed of themselves for making their personal political issues more important than character.  Would these same people vote for the anti-Christ if the anti-Christ promised them riches?   Would they make a golden calf while Moses was up the mountain?   Would they hire someone for a job if that someone lied in an interview?  Of course not.  So why do some of these people justify their votes for you even though they know you are dishonest?  Why do they excuse your dishonesty?   Because some of these people are frightened about the future, the economy, and their financial security …. and you are preying on their fears with empty promises  … and because some (especially our young people) are consumed by your wonderful style and promises for “change” like the Germans who voted for Adolf Hitler in 1932.  The greed/envy by Germans in 1932 kept them from recognizing Hitler for who he was.   They loved his style.  Greed and envy are keeping many Americans from recognizing you … your style has camouflaged your dishonesty …. but many of us see you for who you really are   … and we will not stop exposing who you are every day,  forever if it is necessary.

Mr. Obama, you are dishonest.  Anyone who votes for you is enabling dishonesty.

Mr.  Obama, America cannot trust that you will put America first in your decisions about the future.

Mr. Obama, you are not the “change” that America deserves.  We cannot trust you.

Mr. Obama, You are not ready and not fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

Mr. Obama, John McCain does not have as much money as your campaign to refute all of your false statements.  And for whatever reasons, the mainstream media will not give adequate coverage or research about your lies, distortions, word parsing, bad associations, race baiting, lack of operational leadership experience, and generally dishonest character.  The media is diverting our attention from your relationships and ignoring the fact that you lied about those relationships.   The fact that you lied is much more important than the relationships themselves …. just like with Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon … Monica Lewinski and Watergate were not nearly as bad as the fact that those men lied about the events …  false witness … perjury …  your relationships and bad judgements are bad on their own … but your lies are even worse.

Therefore, by copy of this memo, all who read this memo are asked to send it to everyone else in America before it is too late.  We need to do the job that the media will not do.  We need to expose your dishonesty so that every person in America understands who you really are before election day.

Mr. Obama, in a democracy, we get what we deserve.  And God help America if we deserve you.

This is a brilliant piece of commentary by Alan Stang, former writer and pre-interviewer for Mike Wallace…no, Mike Wallace did not do his own work.

As the people head for the polls, many shell-shocked Americans are wondering how Senator Hussein could get where he is. He is the most mysterious candidate for President in the history of our country. We don’t know a little thing like where he was born, and he won’t prove it. He won’t release many of the documents that would validate what he says he has done. His birth certificate has been sequestered. We can’t get his college records, etc. Now it appears that we don’t even know for sure who his father was.

On the other hand, what we do know about him would instantly disqualify anyone else. We do know for sure that he was raised by Communists, one of whom admits he was a sexual degenerate. We do know that he has associated with Communists all his life. We do know that one of those Communists laments that he didn’t bomb and kill more Americans. We do know that his “spiritual” mentor for twenty years says, “God damn America.” We do know he was a Muslim and could recite from the Koran like a native Arabic speaker. Those are just a few of the things we do know; again, anyone else who presented such a résumé would be kicked into the street.

How does such a man become the nominee for President of a historic American party? The answer is that our people have been subjected for many years to a systematic program of Soviet brainwashing. Only people who are the victims of such a program could take seriously a candidate so preposterous. Do you scoff that such a thing would be impossible in a country so big? Communists did the same thing in China, which is bigger. See Edward Hunter’s classic Brain-washing in Red China (New York, Vanguard Press, 1953). Ed Hunter is the journalist who coined the term “brainwashing.”

In this country, the brainwashers have used a different weapon for the same purpose; used it quite successfully. Indeed, it has become the central issue in this political campaign. Yet, characteristically, it has not been discussed. It has not been mentioned. That issue is race. Yes, I know perfectly well that Senator Hussein is not black; he is a mulatto. But the distinction is lost because the black voters flocking to his standard believe he is one of them. His wife does appear to be black. Sadly, she lacks even a scintilla of his considerable charm. Her hatred and disgust for white people could make Eva Braun appealing.

How does the brainwashing work? The most important time you learn about something is the first time. Since you know nothing about it before you hear anything, you have no opinion. What you hear about it the first time becomes the matrix, the template, for that subject in your mind. From then on, you will compare everything you learn about that subject to the matrix. If something you hear contradicts the matrix, you will think it must be wrong.

You do something akin to that every day. When you hear something new, you compare it to what you already know. If the new thing you hear contradicts what you already know, you will probably conclude it is wrong. You reject it. You do that whenever you read one of my pieces or listen to me on the radio. But what if the matrix is wrong? What if the first thing you hear about the subject is wrong? How would you establish that? It would take a heroic effort, a mental surgery, to change your thinking.

Indeed, suppose the first time you hear about something, you are six years old. Suppose you hear the same thing about it for twelve years, or even for sixteen years, for hours every day. Suppose you never hear anything else about it. And suppose what you heard every day all those years is now reinforced every day by the media. What would you think if, after all that, you finally hear something different? You would reject it. You would call it stupid, wrong, bizarre, crazy, extreme, etc.

This is how the brainwashing works. The six year old child entering the nation’s Communist government schools is told that the “white man” is the cause of every problem from acne to xenophobia. The white man caused slavery. The white man causes “economic injustice.” Have you lost your job, your house, your car, your girl? Are you poor, ugly, stupid, ignorant, unable to speak English? The school child is told the white man is to blame.

Later on, this shows up in the text books. Look at them, if you can. Some text books are so inflammatory, students are forbidden to bring them home. Contradictory facts that give the lie to all this are minimized or concealed. Little is made of the fact that African blacks enslaved other blacks and sold them to slave traders waiting at the coasts. Students are not told that Muslim Arabs bought and sold kidnapped black slaves for many centuries, much longer than did their Anglo-Saxon counterparts, and that such slavery is still going on.

American students are not told that the first war our new country fought was against Arab Muslim slave traders. “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.” Remember? Did you know that slavery was just as entrenched in New England as it was in the South; that American blacks owned black slaves; that blacks fought in Confederate ranks? These are just a few examples. There is much more. You get the idea. The true history tells us that blacks and Arabs are just as bad as whites and everyone else. It’s something called sin, another thing many students have never heard of.

To learn how the Communists seized control of the government schools, you must read the deliberate dumbing down of america, by the amazingly beautiful Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. That is the title. Mrs. Iserbyt shows you from their own mouths in their own words what the Communists said they would do.

You don’t need to worry that she is taking something “out of context.” She gives you the context. Mrs. Iserbyt has the ability to pore through thousands of pages of poisonously boring prose, dig out the incriminating nuggets and yet remain sane. You can read the book for free at her site, http://www.deliberatedumbingdown.com. I suggest you go ahead and buy it. A workwoman is worthy of her hire.

Now suppose you have heard that the “white man” is no dang good for sixteen years. Suppose you hear that every day on television. Suppose you have never heard anything else. My guess is you will believe it. You will believe it if you are black. You will believe it if you are white. If you are black and you believe it, you will resent it. You could even develop an “attitude,” in which you believe that “whitey” owes you a living, an attitude waiting for a clever, charming black con man with a match.

What if you are white? Wouldn’t you be overwhelmed with guilt, neutered, emasculated, useless, utterly incapable of defending your culture, your country, even your family and home? Of course you would. You would always give way. When thugs intimidate you, you would cave. When they shout you down at a meeting, you would shut up. You would always apologize and grovel. Isn’t that what you see all around you? After all, you are white. You are no dang good. You are living a desperate quest for forgiveness.

When you come across this guy Alan Stang or one of his colleagues, you run screaming from the room, your hands over your ears. Everything they say contradicts everything you “know.” Your “education,” the most expensive in the world, tells you they are spouting blatant racism and are obviously insane. Yes, Devvy Kidd is the “red-headed dynamite” and a hottie, but she is also a kook. Where did these nut jobs escape from?

For instance, here are excerpts from an email I received: “Good morning Mr. Stang. I have been listening to you for a short while and today as you were reading an article from the South African woman, I was so offended. I realise now that you may be a racist. Do you really support the inhumane doctrine of APARTHEDE? If so then I must understand that you are also supporting it’s (sic) daughter, ZIONISM.”

The U.S. government imposed Communism on South Africa. The same thing that happened there is happening here now. The Reds used guilt to emasculate the whites. Notice the English spelling of “realise” instead of “realize” in the quotation above. Notice the spelling of “apartheid.” Is the author a brainwash victim in that country, or a Communist beneficiary there who does not want the truth to get out?

I was on a speaking tour some years back in the Northwest. My hosts arranged a guest appearance on a radio talk show. The host was charming, intelligent and black. I can’t recall exactly what he asked. It was something like, “I’m curious to know how guilty you feel about slavery.” He assumed I would feel some guilt because I am white and other white men were slavers. I pondered the question. No one had ever asked me that before. I told him I feel no guilt at all, none.

His mouth fell open. What? No guilt at all? It stayed open while I explained that slavery in this country ended long before my grandfathers arrived and that in fact during slavery here my forebears were either slaves themselves or were hiding in the woods in other countries. He just looked at me puzzled when I asked why I should feel guilty.

Here is an obverse example of the brainwashing: A lady named Peggy Joseph took her kids out of school to attend a Hussein rally in Florida on October 30th. Later, she said, “It was the most memorable time of my life. It was a touching moment.” Why? “Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to work on putting gas in my car, I won’t have to work on paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he’s going to help me.”

You can see Mrs. Joseph saying this on You Tube. She is obviously not insane and she is not retarded. But she is perfectly sincere, which means that she is in the grip of a national psychosis, a species of derangement. History is replete with epidemics of such hysteria. Usually, they end quickly, but only after considerable damage has been done. When a President Hussein does not pay her mortgage, Mrs. Joseph will wonder what the heck happened to her.

You say you are not brainwashed? After all these years, here is still the best proof that you are brainwashed I have been able to devise. Remember Dick Gregory? Dick used to be a brilliant comedian. He was so brilliant and so funny he wrote his autobiography. He entitled it simply, Nigger (New York, Dutton, 1964).

Friends tried to dissuade him, but he stayed loyal to Nigger. Dick explained that he chose the title, i>Nigger, because whenever his sainted mother in heaven heard someone use that word, Nigger, she would think someone was talking about Dick’s book, entitled Nigger. And the fact that he obviously had a close, warm relationship with his mom proves to me that Dick is truly a high class guy.

Now notice that I am not using a racial epithet. I am not calling someone a name. I am simply telling you about a fellow author’s book, Nigger. Proof that I am talking about a book is that the title is in italics. Authors love to hear people talk about their books. I certainly do. And you can’t talk about a book without mentioning its title. I suggest you get a copy of Nigger from your library and read it. Simply step up to the librarian and say, “I want a copy of Nigger.”

Now notice that, all the while you have been reading about Nigger, you have been feeling mental discomfort, tension, anguish, fear, fear of what I could say next. Of course, each of you feels more or less of these emotions. The fact that you feel them is evidence that to some extent you have been brainwashed. Remember, we are simply talking about a word. You would feel similar discomfort if the word we were discussing were “faggot.”

Remember what happened to Isaiah Washington? He was a top star of “Grey’s Anatomy.” I have never seen it, but I am told it is a popular television show. Isaiah called a co-star a name. It was so horrendous a name that the producers never told us what it was. The fact that Isaiah is black did not save him. He was banished to a live-in clinic for “re-education.” He apologized. He groveled. They fired him anyway. Later, it turned out that the faggot he probably called a faggot is indeed a faggot.

What is the effect of the brainwashing? Doesn’t it tell you to keep your head down and your mouth shut? Doesn’t it tell you to avoid controversy, in fear that you could lose your job, as so many have, in fear that your life could be ruined, as many have been? Doesn’t it tell you to do as you are told?

You certainly don’t want the same thing to happen to you that happened to Isaiah Washington. The fear has put dialect comedians out of business. Today, Myron Cohen would be arrested when he walks out on stage. Yes, you can still tell a Polish joke because Poles love them. Try telling a black joke. Remember what happened to “Kramer?”

All of this explains the candidacy of Communist illegal alien Senator Hussein. His white bosses at Goldman Sachs have recruited this P.T. Barnum candidate, trained and financed for the purpose for more than twenty years, to activate the brainwashing installed in the minds of graduates of American government schools, in the same way the playing card activated Raymond Shaw in “The Manchurian Candidate.” The victims have been waiting for Hussein to ignite them all these years; they didn’t know it themselves.

Do you want a black President? Yes, it would be a thrilling idea, a consummate expression of Americanism. Let me suggest one. Dr. Thomas Sowell. You want black? I interviewed him for a couple of hours in studio. Tom Sowell is as black as the ace of spades. He makes mulatto Hussein look like an albino version of Jessica Simpson. You want charming? Tom oozes charm. And he is an American. We even know where he was born. Hey, Tom! You have enjoyed the cushy life at the Hoover Institution long enough. Now it is time to mount up and ride.

The paradox is that because Dr. Sowell is as brilliant as he is, he knows perfectly well that the white Communist media would tear him apart. Suddenly, his blackness would be irrelevant, as it was for Isaiah. Media degenerate Chris Matthews would not feel the same thrill run up his rotting leg that he feels for Hussein.

Before you vote, you must shake off the brainwashing. Here is how to do it. Close and lock all the doors and windows. Make sure you are alone. The only exceptions allowed should be adult close family members. (The situation is already so Nazified that children could report you to the teacher.) When you are sure you are alone, speak the frightening words, the names that have gotten people fired, the racial and sexual epithets that today routinely ruin lives.

Do not – do not – do not do this in public. Your purpose is not to offend anyone; your goal is not confrontation. Your purpose is to free your own mind, to liberate yourself, to shake off the orchestrated, national brainwashing you have endured. Recite the words. Shout them. At first, it will be difficult to do. It could cause discomfort, even pain. The more intensely you feel these things, the more you have been brainwashed.

The only way to heal yourself is to relive the painful experience you suffered when your teachers injected the infection. Doctors call what you must undergo a “healing crisis,” in which the hidden effect of the brainwashing emerges and is purged. You could call the healing process “psychological homeopathy.”

Keep it up. It will get easier. After a while, the words will roll off your lips. The fog will lift. You will feel no more discomfort. You will no longer believe that Hussein will pay your mortgage. The words will be just what they have always been: words, not terrifying brainwashing triggers. You are now healed. You no longer need to say or think those words ever again.

Congratulations! You are now ready to vote.

The Top 10 Reasons Walt Minnick Shouldn’t Be Elected to Congress

Walt Minnick is running for Congress in Idaho as a conservative Democrat. The problem it’s that it’s not true, and Idaho needs the facts. They won’t get them from the local news media which is in the tank for Minnick. Why should voters choose to re-elect Congressman Bill Sali instead of his Democratic rival? I have 10 reasons.

 

10.      Supported by Planned Parenthood:

 

Congressman Bill Sali (R-Id.) believes Planned Parenthood should not be funded by your tax dollars. Planned Parenthood bills itself as the Lenscrafters of Family Planning. Great, but we don’t give tax subsidies to LensCrafters. LensCrafters also hasn’t been under criminal investigation for helping to cover up the abuse of underage girls.

 

Minnick is endorsed by not only Planned Parenthood, but also NARAL Pro-Choice America. Based on to the money poured into the race, Big Abortion expects to get a big boost if Walt Minnick is elected to Congress.

 

9.      Endorsed Barack Obama-in January

 

One can’t take down a Democrat solely for supporting Obama except that Minnick made his endorsement in January. Minnick could have supported Hillary Clinton, who was more moderate, or stayed neutral. Instead, Minnick urged the Democrats to select the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate as its nominee when there were other viable choices. How then can Minnick claim to be a “conservative” Democrat? How can he claim fiscal conservatism with his support for a candidate that James Pethokoukis of U.S. News and World Report declared would bring “Half billion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.”

 

     8. Fool Me Once…

 

Minnick is taking the line that he’ll go to Washington and stop earmarks and balance the budget. Wait? Haven’t we heard that line before? Yes, we did. In 2006, House Democratic Candidates ran as Conservative Populists and won on similar themes throughout the country. Yet, too a person, the House Freshman class has turned out to be absolutely worthless on fiscal issues. In 2007, there were anti-Pork Amendments brought up in the U.S. House, your average House Democrat voted to cut the pork only 2% of the time It’s easy to talk the fiscal conservative talk, it’s hard to actually govern. Why should we believe Minnick when 50+ House Democratic Freshman failed to keep their promise in 2006?

 

       7.  Charlie Rangel

                                                       

While the media has rapped Congressman Sali for support from out of state conservatives, the liberal press in Idaho remains characteristically uncurious about Minnick’s out of state fundraising. A chief example is the National Leadership of Congressman Charlie Rangel.

 

If Minnick is the scourge of earmarks, Rangel certainly didn’t know it as his PAC sent $10,000 to Minnick’s campaign.

Rangel obtained an earmark for the Charlie Rangel Center for public service in New York City, the Monument to Me. Congressman Sali opposed this earmark while not a single House Democratic Freshman did. Subsequently, Rangel came under investigation for raising $12 million for the center, much of it from businesses with issues before his committee. To top it all of as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rangel failed to pay taxes on income he earned from a rental property. As embarrassing scandals mounted, the New York Times called for Rangel to resign as Ways and Means Committee Chairman.

 

Up in Alaska, the Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate, Mark Begitch (D) realized that running as a government reformer and taking Rangel’s money didn’t mix, so he donated all of Rangel’s donation to charity. Meanwhile, Walt Minnick is clinging to Rangel’s donation like his Presidential Candidate said rural folks cling to guns and religion.

 

6.  Amnesty for Illegal Aliens

 

Minnick declared his support for amnesty for illegal aliens as proposed by President Bush, but like Bush he’d rather not call it amnesty.

 

5. Bankrolling the Left

 

For someone who claims to be a conservative Democrat, Minnick supports a lot of liberals for high office in-state and out. If I were a conservative Democrat who wanted to support candidates out of state, I would probably give to guys like Rep. Scott Mattheson (D-UT) or Gene Taylor (D-Ms.) who are fairly conservative. Instead, Minnick gave money to the Senate re-election campaign of John Kerry in 1996. He supported the House Campaign of Department of Peace supporter Congressman Mark Udall (D-CO), and he contributed to Senator Maria Cantwell’s (D-WA.) campaign.

In Idaho, he’s supported such far left members of the State Legislature as State Representative Nicole LeFavour who is so far to the left she opposed a bill to make it a crime to physically coerce a woman to have an abortion. Another Minnick beneficiary was Mike Burkett, who fought against a bill that required legal status be verified before the state gives out any non-emergency benefits.

 

In addition to this, Minnick gave money to defeat our State’s Marriage Amendment at the polls in 2008 and also gave money in support an initiative that would force the State to $210 million in taxes any way that it chose. The money was to be used for whatever educational expenses school districts wanted. What was that about fiscal responsibility?

 

You can tell a lot about someone by where they invest their personal resources. Minnick’s support for the far left in Idaho and across the nation speaks volumes.

 

4. Extreme Environmentalist

 

Idaho’s resource industry has been devastated by closing lands off to resource management and logging. In addition, there has been an incessant hue and cry for breaching of Idaho dams. Minnick has been a big part of this environmental movement that has hurt our state. He served on the Governing Board of the Wilderness Society for 16 years, and was a big donor to EarthJustice, a legal group that uses litigation to force far left environmental policies through the courts, while destroying good paying jobs.

 

3. Its What We Don’t Know

 

In this top 10 list, we’ve hit some of the top issues. However, much of Minnick’s issue positions are unknown. On the issue of card check, I e-mailed Minnick’s campaign more than 3 months ago for information on where Minnick stands on the Employer Free Choice Act, a bill that would allow unions to intimidate workers by eliminating the secret ballot in union elections. As of this date, I don’t know where Walt Minnick stands on that issue, but I do know Walt Minnick has raised nearly $100,000 from Labor Unions including $5,000 from the National Education Association, and that he’s raised $165,000 from New York City in Individual Itemized contributions.

 

Ultimately, we don’t just elect Congressman to handle issues that we’re up to speed on, but those that we don’t have either time or inclination to follow. That’s where the question, “What’s this guy’s real philosophy?” becomes so critical. Can Idaho trust him to be a Conservative? The record says no.

 

2. D+ From the NRA

 

Minnick scored a D+ from the NRA for answering that all guns that didn’t support the ownership of guns that are “not used for sporting purposes.” Minnick backs the Brady law. Minnick D+ rating is astounding in Idaho.

 

The NRA is a not a partisan organization. Democratic Senate Nominee Larry LaRocco scored an A. Our neighboring Senator Max Baucus received an A+ from the NRA. Even Colorado Senate Candidate Mark Udall scored a C, while his brother Tom scored a C- in New Mexico.

 

Minnick is touting the endorsement of a phony gun organization called American Hunters and Shooters Association, which has also endorsed gun control proponent Obama for President.

 

1. Bill Sali

 

The #1 reason that Walt Minnick should go to Congress is that the first district already has a great Congressman. Bill Sali received a 100% rating from the American Conservative Union and was ranked a Taxpayer Hero by the National Taxpayers Union. While Walt Minnick talks about fighting government waste, Bill Sali has actually been endorsed by Citizens Against Government Waste.

 

Bill Sali has receivd an A+ rating not only from the NRA, but from the more stringent Gun Owners of America. He’s been recognized by the Family Research Council for his leadership on pro-family issues.

 

Of course, the narrative is that people might agree with Sali on the issues, but that he’s a bombastic counterproductive Congressman who alienates around him. The only problem? It’s not true.

The Idaho Statesman, which is owned by McClatchy, has only endorsed Bill Sali once in his political career (when his opponent skipped the interview.) The Statesman has to report that McClatchy’s Washington reporter failed to find anyone Congressman Sali had alienated during his tenure. In fact, Sali has received some compliments from Democrats and Republicans alike on the Hill. 

 

Idaho has a great Congressman who, stands as a voice of sanity in a madhouse we call Washington. He has a compass and it points True North.

Idaho shouldn’t throw that away to elect a dime store Democrat.
